Pingtang County

Pingtang County is a county in the province of Guizhou, China. It is a high mountain valley and is inhabited mainly by members of the Buyei and Miao ethnic minorities, who together make up 55% of the county's population.

In June 2002, a 270 million-year-old stone inscribed with six Chinese characters, reading "中国共产党亡" , was discovered at the Zhangbu Scenic Spot in Zhangbu village . Called the "hidden words stone" , it is reputed to date from the Permian period. It was split in half after having fallen from a cliff. Each character is approximately one square foot in size. Since 2002, the stone has been visited by numerous members of China's governmental elite. The sixth character, , has not been reported in the Chinese media, although it is clearly visible in photos of the inscription.

Luodian County

Luodian County is a administrative district in southwestern China, part of the Qiannan Buyei and Miao Autonomous Prefecture within the Guizhou province.

The climate in the area is humid subtropical, with strong monsoon influences bringing heavy rain during the summer. Winters are dry due to the influence of the Siberian high-pressure system.

The county seat and the largest city in the county is also named Luodian; it was formerly known as Longping. The city of Luodian is situated at longitude.

The county is frequented by both Chinese and foreign geologists, with the core area of work called Big Guizhoutan, or Big Guizhou Shoal. This has been called a "treasure land for Triassic Period research."
